The Kenyan people are set to vote for or against the proposed draft constitution on 4th AUG 2010. Let's get to the 'dirt', I meant, campaign for the draft constitution, which is not a new thing for Kenyans if memory serves you right. Nostalgia begets the mind when banana and orange are mentioned concerning the constitution be it draft or otherwise, this is because not long-ago Yash Pal Ghai (Constitution of Kenya Review Commission....remember the Bomas draft? How about the Wako Draft bado? heish ) had been assigned the duty to form a draft constitution (anyone know where he came from...well read on...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yash_Ghai) which he did and then as now there were two factions one for the katiba (constitution) and the other against it the symbols were fruits. Did you know he was against the referendum that time...http://www.nation.co.ke/News/-/1056/679070/-/uo51xi/-/ he reasoned politics should not be involved I agree with him as to what he does these days I have no Idea. So Kenyan political leaders thought they could o a better job on their own, one problem, they had to go to Nakuru and have the right ambiance for the spirit to flow. Give me a break, opportunity presents itself. A good example of same script different cast or is it same cast as well?
Yash Pal Ghai - Constitution of Kenya Review commission the draft then was: Proposed Draft Constitution of Kenya
Parliamentary Select Committee the Draft the draft now is: Harmonized Draft Constitution of Kenya
in 2005 the referendum took place on 21st November 2005 the symbol for the constitution as a banana. Those against it had an Orange. During campaigns for and against the constitution the ruling party NARC was divided into two factions. The Orange Democratic Movement was formed during this period as well comprising of members of parliament against the constitution then. The proposed constitution was voted down by a 58% majority. This is not about who voted when and how, or which leader is for r against it. It's our constitution this time around we have the resources to read and comprehend what is 'harmonized' making our own decision as per our understanding of the draft. Thus Jisomee, Jiamulie Jichagulie Katiba wewe mewnyewe. http://www.standardmedia.co.ke/InsidePage.php?id=2000010120&cid=4& I will wake early and cast my vote...see you then.
